We cannot allow ourselves to be caught up in the divisions and dissensions of the world. We must be above or outside of them.
Our role, our special role, as latter-day disciples of Christ, is to be light-bringers – showing the world a different way. We are called to show mankind, through the power of God – the gift of the Holy Spirit, poured out upon us ‘in great glory’ – what is true, real and good. To help them rise above the petty and finite preoccupations of mortality, and see the eternal nature of our existence.
To call them, also, to the service and worship of God; to bind themselves in covenant to His mercy and saving grace.
We are called, to call others to Christ.
We must be different to do this. This is why (partly) we cannot be caught up in the disagreements of the world. We need to show our light, given of God. (See also Luke 11:33-36, Ephesians 5:8, 13+14 and Romans 13:12)
To do this, we must trust God, that seeking His will, and His kingdom first, always, is the right order of things. Not alongside our own, but first.
Because we are not here to live a nice life. We are here to save; ourselves and others. As many as will see, and come.
