I love Isaiah! Have I said I love Isaiah? One of the things I love about this book is the most beautiful promises the prophet shares, in his eloquent, poetic language. When I became aware of Isaiah, as an adolescent, those promises are what stood out to me; I was drawn to their poetry, and comforted by their beauty and number. These were things I needed to be true, which I held before me as lights for the future. They promised the fairness, love, beauty, peace, safety, power, and fulfillment that I desired – he expressed all the things I wanted – and which didn’t exist or seem possible in my life. So I’ve long loved the words of Isaiah, and only grown in appreciation of them over time. Of course, those promises are addressed to all who will come to God and accept His covenants; there is so much to find in Isaiah, and all of it relevant to us individually, our time, and the world as a whole.
